Labranda Alyssa Suite Hotel, Playa Blanca
With a total of just 120 rooms set around 3 swimming pools, you could almost class the 4 star Alyssa Suites as boutique. Set into the hillside of the extinct Montaña Roja Volcano in Playa Blanca, the Labranda Alyssa Suite Hotel offers stunning views across the La Bocaina Strait towards the neighbouring islands of Isla de Lobos and Fuerteventura. The hotel consists of 16 two bedroom suites and 104 one bedroom suites (3 rooms have been adapted for handicapped access), each with their own sunbathing terrace or balcony, free wi-fi, mini fridge and air-conditioning. A great all inclusive option if you’re not a fan of super-sized hotels.
Hotel Coronas Playa, Costa Teguise
The Coronas Playa has long been a favourite adults-only hotel and is particularly favoured by more mature guests. With a focus on quality of service from the friendly and helpful staff, the hotel receives many return visitors. All rooms in this 4 star hotel have a private balcony or terrace with either a garden, pool or sea view. There are two large swimming pools each with large sunbathing terrace and poolside snack bar. The Crown Restaurant serves buffet breakfast, lunch and dinner – with themed evenings and a weekly Gala Dinner. The Pavilion offers a great selection of after-dinner entertainment, complete with table service (no queuing for drinks at the bar here), while the Monkey Bar is the place to chat and relax, if organised hotel entertainment isn’t your thing.
Meliá Sol Lanzarote, Puerto del Carmen
Located on the front-line of Matagorda beach, this four star hotel is just 10 minutes’ drive from the airport – perfect for those who love to “fly and flop”. The four swimming pools sit within the extensive terrace and garden areas, which lead directly onto the golden sands of Matagorda beach. For those looking for a bit more activity, you can visit the gym or take part in Tai-chi classes, aqua gym, dance & spinning classes or enjoy a set or two on the tennis court. The main buffet restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, with the In Out Lounge Bar also serving lunch and a snack buffet. For an evening treat, head over to the superbly-positioned and beautifully-lit Blue Horizon Tapas and Sushi Bar.
For something different, stroll down Matagorda beach and watch the planes fly over your head as they come in to land at the beach-side airport.
Hesperia Lanzarote, Puerto Calero
The 5 star Hesperia Lanzarote hotel is located in the exclusive marina development of Puerto Calero. The hotel boasts all of the facilities you’d expect from a 5 star resort, including four swimming pools (one heated), tennis, paddle and squash courts, beach volleyball area and a gym. After working up an appetite, the only issue you’ll face is choosing where to dine…. Buffet breakfasts and dinners at The Boratava, Mediterranean a-la-carte at El Riso, or the high-class La Caleta restaurant – perfect for a romantic meal, and there’s also a choice of 4 bars. For a more grown-up, luxury All-inclusive feel, Hesperia Lanzarote is the place to visit. Oh, and don’t forget tea-time at 5pm, with cups of tea, sandwiches, pastries and cakes.
Be Live Experience Beach, Costa Teguise
The Be Live Experience Beach Hotel, as its name suggests has direct access to the Blue Flag, Las Cucharas Beach in Costa Teguise. Designed for the whole family, there’s a great children’s club, solar-heated swimming pools, gym and daily training sessions, along with various activities from water polo to mini golf, volleyball and darts. The Timanfaya restaurant serves buffet breakfast, lunch and dinner while the a-la-carte Manrique restaurant serves Spanish and Mexican fare. The ‘Brandy Well’ Sports Bar is a great place to enjoy a drink. The hotel also offers a late breakfast service – perfect if you’ve had a late night, or just want to enjoy a well-deserved lie-in while on holiday.
